Beckwith pianos were manufactured for Sears & Roebuck.  It's difficult to fathom that you could once order a grand piano from the same place that you order your underwear!

Nevertheless, these were outstanding pianos aesthetically, sonically and had a great touch as well.  This one is no exception.  It has been well cared-for during it's life.  The previous owners had a lot of work performed on it including new strings and pins, refinishing of the plate and new hammers.  The cabinet was also refinished at the time.

Sound:  The bass section is fantastically sonorous, the mid-range is warm, yet clear, and the upper treble sparkles.

Touch:  Mildly heavy (about 65 grams downweight), but with very little extra inertia.  Not a hard piano to play at all!

Keys:  Original ivory in top condition for their age.  Truly a great example of very fine ivory!

Cabinet:  Gorgeous!  There is some sun fading on the lid, but is still beautiful.  Otherwise no obvious cosmetic defects.

The soundboard still has LOTS of life left with good crown, however there is one joint seperation in the mid-section, right through the logo decal.  It appears that it has been there a long time and doesn't present any sound or stability problems.  I have adjusted the price accordingly.
